International Baccalaureate
Introduction

The International Baccalaureate (IB) and the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) have worked for several years to establish a programme to increase access to high quality international education for competitive student athletes. A pilot project is under way to work with selected IB World Schools that can provide a flexible academic programme for competitive student athletes.

The pilot aims to provide a flexible offering of IB education whereby student athletes are provided with a timetable combining their sport and educational commitments over a period of up to 4 years. This will allow student athletes to extend the last two years of secondary school by up to two further years and improve sport, school and life balance for competitive student athletes.

Schools participating in the pilot will be listed on this site as they are announced and interested athletes and parents should check back regularly for the latest list of schools. Any IB World Schools interested in participating in the pilot should contact the WAoS.

Who should attend?

The programme is suited to competitive student athletes that have the academic background to be able to complete the IB Diploma programme were it not for the demands of their sport training and competition schedule. A range of schools throughout the world which cater to a vast number of sports are participating in the pilot however not all countries and sports can be catered for.

The most up-to-date list of schools participating in the pilot will be listed on this site and should be checked on a regular basis for updates. The initial list of schools and further information can be obtained by contacting the World Academy of Sport.
